Namrata Bhattacharya-Mis

Namrata Bhattacharya-Mis is an Associate Professor in Geography and Environment at the University of Chester, where she leads the Natural Hazard Management programme. She co-chairs the Race Equality and Cultural Heritage Group and advises the Ethics Committee.

Her multidisciplinary research focuses on flood risk resilience, social-hydrology, and climate adaptation strategies. She investigates risk perception, community-led knowledge co-creation, and nature-based solutions, particularly in Global South contexts.

Recent publications examine equity in rural flood management, socio-environmental disasters in Brazil, and evolutionary models of disaster risk frameworks.

She leads projects on flood memory perception and smart flood technology, collaborating with international partners through Newton Fund initiatives.
