Naheem Yaqub is a BBSRC-funded Research Fellow at King's College London's Randall Centre for Cell & Molecular Biophysics, part of the School of Basic & Medical Biosciences within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. He leads research on respiratory epithelial cell mechanisms and 3D organoid models for lung disease, including the role of CAR receptors in lung inflammation. He co-chairs the Faculty's Research Staff Network Committee and co-organized the Early Career Researcher Conference.
Education: MSci Neuroscience (University of Leeds), PhD Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering (UCL, LiDO iCASE DTP with GSK). His PhD focused on developing human respiratory epithelium models for drug efficacy testing.
Research focuses on advanced 3D organoid platforms for studying lung diseases like interstitial lung disease, with applications in targeted therapies and regenerative medicine. He is establishing the King's Respiratory Network to connect lung researchers across disciplines and engage with patient groups.
Scientific achievements include securing a BBSRC Career Development Award and publishing work on CAR receptor signaling, bioprinted respiratory tissues, and stem cell differentiation. He advocates for early career researchers and promotes collaborative research culture at King's.
