Naemi McPherson is an Assistant Teaching Professor in East Asian Studies at Brown University since 2018. She holds Master’s degrees in Japanese Pedagogy from Columbia University (2011) and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Second Language Studies from University of Hawaii at Mānoa (2016).

Her research focuses on critical pedagogy, multilingual education, and social justice in Japanese language teaching. She explores innovative curriculum design and transnational literature integration to enhance cultural understanding and learner identity.
Her recent publications (2011-2021) emphasize social justice themes, heritage language pedagogy, and transnational literature in Japanese education. These works reflect her commitment to addressing diversity and inclusion through negotiated syllabi and cultural analysis.
