Dr. Nadine Changfoot is a Full Professor of Political Studies at Trent University, affiliated with Champlain College. She holds roles as Senior Research Associate at the University of Guelph's Re•Vision Centre for Art and Social Justice, and serves on the executive of the Trent Centre for Aging and Society and the Board of EC3. A prolific researcher, her work bridges Canadian politics, feminist theory, aging, disability, critical race, queer studies, and sustainability. She has led projects like Aging Vitalities and contributed to national initiatives such as the Bodies in Translation SSHRC Partnership Grant.
Dr. Changfoot earned a B.A. in Public Policy (York), M.A. in Public Administration (Carleton), and Ph.D. in Political Science (York). Her teaching focuses on cultural politics, gender, and activist art. She has held leadership roles, including Chair of Political Studies (2014–2017) and a Trent Teaching Fellowship (2018–2021). Her research emphasizes arts-based methodologies, community engagement, and social justice, with notable outputs like the Rethinking Artful Politics special journal issue.
Her work challenges marginalization through projects like Mobilizing New Meanings of Disability and Difference, producing digital stories and experimental theater. Recent initiatives include the AIIGO Indigenous Aging Gathering and ReFrame Film Festival screenings. Her articles address topics from crip-ethics to Indigenous futurities, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach.
Dr. Changfoot’s awards include the Trent University Teaching Fellowship. She mentors students in interdisciplinary social justice research, with trainees winning prestigious scholarships like the Trudeau and SSHRC.
