Nadia Stefanova

Nadia Stefanova is a Professor for Translational Neurodegeneration Research at the Medical University of Innsbruck, where she heads the Laboratory for Translational Neurodegeneration Research. She earned her medical degree in Sofia, Bulgaria, and joined the Department of Neurology in Innsbruck in 1999 through a PhD fellowship program, later completing her habilitation there.

Her research focuses on fundamental molecular mechanisms underlying Parkinson's disease and multiple system atrophy (MSA), with emphasis on biomarker discovery and novel therapeutic development. Key areas include neurodegeneration pathways, protein aggregation, and translational neuroscience.
