Nadia Rosenthal serves as Scientific Director of The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, and holds a Chair in Cardiovascular Science at Imperial College London. She previously founded EMBL Australia as its Scientific Head and was Founding Director of the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute in Melbourne, having also headed the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) campus in Rome.
Her academic foundation includes a PhD from Harvard Medical School, where she later directed a biomedical research laboratory.
Professor Rosenthal's research pioneers the intersection of immunology and regenerative medicine, investigating how growth factors, stromal cells, and immune system dynamics govern tissue injury resolution. Her team demonstrated that modifying immune cell infiltration profiles can actively facilitate or prevent tissue repair, while leveraging mouse genetic diversity to uncover novel pathways in cardiovascular disease response. Current work focuses on developing precise SARS-CoV-2 mouse models through advanced genetic engineering.
Her major recognitions include:
- EMBO Membership
- Fellowship in the UK Academy of Medical Sciences
- Fellowship in the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences
At The Jackson Laboratory, she leads a multidisciplinary research team advancing regenerative medicine applications through innovative mouse genetics approaches, with significant implications for cardiovascular therapeutics and viral disease modeling.
