معرفی
Dr. Sarah Teichmann serves as Director of Research at the Cavendish Laboratory (Department of Physics) at the University of Cambridge and heads the Cellular Genetics programme at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. She co-founded and co-leads the international Human Cell Atlas consortium, a global initiative with over two thousand members mapping cellular composition across human tissues.
Her research integrates single-cell genomics with computational methods to decode cellular diversity in human development and disease. Key focus areas include tissue microenvironment architecture, immune system dynamics, and developmental biology, leveraging machine learning to bridge experimental ('wet') and computational ('dry') science. This work pioneers reference maps for human cells through cutting-edge cell atlas technologies.
Major recognitions include:
- EMBO Gold Medal
- Genetics Society Mary Lyons Award
- Biochemical Society GlaxoSmithKline Award
She holds elite fellowships as an EMBO Member, ISCB Fellow, and Fellow of both the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal Society. Her leadership in the Human Cell Atlas exemplifies large-scale interdisciplinary collaboration driving biological discovery.
