Nadia N. Sawicki is the Georgia Reithal Professor of Law and Co-Chair of the Beazley Institute for Health Law & Policy at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She specializes in health law, bioethics, and torts, focusing on issues like informed consent, patient rights, and conscientious objection in healthcare. Her work addresses the intersection of legal frameworks and ethical practices in medicine.
- Education: BA (magna cum laude) from Brown University; M. Bioethics from University of Pennsylvania; JD (cum laude) from University of Pennsylvania Law School
Research interests include reproductive rights, end-of-life care, and the role of conscience protections for healthcare providers. She has written extensively on topics like abortion access, medical malpractice liability, and the ethical implications of compelled physician speech.
Her recent articles analyze the post-Dobbs legal landscape for pregnant patients’ autonomy and the ethical dimensions of medical practice. She has been recognized as a member of the American Law Institute and previously served on national bioethics committees.
