معرفی
Nada Abdelmagid is an Assistant Professor in Humanitarian Health Practice at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), specializing in Infectious Disease Epidemiology and International Health. She is a medical doctor and epidemiologist from Sudan with extensive field experience across multiple humanitarian crises including Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Turkey.
Her research focuses on public health information in crisis-affected settings, outbreaks and epidemics, vaccination programs, governance and decision-making in humanitarian contexts, and epidemic surveillance. As co-principal investigator of the RESONATE research project, she leads efforts to increase equitable childhood vaccination coverage in Ethiopia and Nigeria through collaboration with the Armauer Hansen Research Institute and the University of Ilorin.
Dr. Abdelmagid's publication record demonstrates a clear focus on vaccination challenges in conflict settings, particularly addressing zero-dose and under-immunized children. Her work combines qualitative approaches with epidemiological methods to understand barriers to immunization and develop sustainable solutions. Recent publications also highlight her expertise in epidemic risk perception, community-based surveillance, and innovative approaches to measuring health outcomes in settings with weak data systems.
She serves on the Global Health Cluster's Public Health Information Services Task Team and is a founding member of the Sudan Research Group, which supports evidence generation and capacity building for public health emergencies in Sudan. Dr. Abdelmagid also co-organizes the Design and Planning of Humanitarian Health Projects Module (HHM102) and tutors on Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases at LSHTM.
Currently a PhD candidate at LSHTM, she is exploring risk perceptions of competing epidemic-prone diseases in highly vulnerable contexts using Sudan as a case study. Her current research is supported by multiple grants, including a major Save the Children-funded project running through 2027 focused on barriers and solutions to reaching zero-dose children in Ethiopia and Nigeria.
