Prof. Nachum Erlich was a renowned violinist and Professor at the Karlsruhe University of Music since 1991, serving as Prorektor (Vice Rector) from October 2022. He held a professorship in violin at the Sibelius Academy (1981–1991) and earned a soloist diploma from the Bern Conservatory under Prof. Max Rostal. His artistic work emphasized chamber music collaborations with artists like Alfons Kontarsky and Siegfried Mauser, alongside performances with orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
- Education: Studied with Yair Kless (Jerusalem), Max Rostal (Bern), and attended masterclasses with Nathan Milstein, Henryk Szeryng, and Steven Staryk.
- Research: Focused on interpreting rarely performed works, especially those of Max Reger, and historical performance practices. Recorded notable works including Bach's Double Concerto with Ivry Gitlis.
Erlich's pedagogical legacy includes training students who now lead orchestras and professorships at institutions like Seoul University and Hiroshima University. He served as concertmaster for the RSO Finland and Basel Chamber Orchestra, and since 2001, played on the Stradivarius “Ex-Szigeti.”
