Māris Millers serves as an Associate Professor at Riga Technical University's Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship within the Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management. With over 25 years of professional experience including a decade at SIA "Lattelekom", he bridges academic rigor with practical business expertise as founder of consulting firm SIA "MM Studija" (2006) and app development company SIA "DriveWiz" (2012), supporting over 100 organizational teams internationally.
His educational journey spans a Physics Master's degree (1992), UK telecommunications management studies (1995), an MBA from RTU's Latvian-Norwegian "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" program (2005), and culminated in a 2022 Doctor of Science in Economics with doctoral thesis "Management of Owner-Managed Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises".
Millers' research centers on organizational development frameworks specifically tailored for owner-managed SMEs, examining governance structures, change management processes, and strategic decision-making through interdisciplinary lenses combining business administration, economics, and systems theory. His work addresses critical tensions between entrepreneurial ownership and professional management in dynamic market environments.
Analysis of his nine recent publications reveals persistent focus on SME governance typologies, innovation adoption barriers, and the dual nature of owner-management as both strategic advantage and operational constraint. His methodological approach increasingly integrates systemic and cybernetic perspectives with empirical business case studies.

As business planning expert in Horizon 2020's BBCE project (2022-2025) and researcher in multiple Erasmus+/ESF initiatives (DECODE, EETC), Millers translates theoretical frameworks into practical business solutions. His teaching of "Entrepreneurship and Business Planning" in RTU's international MBA program directly informs his consulting practice at SIA "MM Studija", creating a continuous feedback loop between academic research and real-world organizational transformation.
Through SIA "MM Studija", Millers operates a de facto applied research laboratory where organizational development theories undergo practical validation across diverse business contexts, demonstrating his commitment to evidence-based management solutions for SMEs.
