Peter-Christian Müller-Graff is a Professor of Law at Heidelberg University since 1994 and Director of the Institute for German and European Company and Commercial Law. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at Heidelberg (1999–2004) and previously at Trier University (1989–1990). His research focuses on European Union Law, business law, and comparative law. He has held visiting professorships at institutions worldwide, including Georgetown University, Cornell University, and universities in France, Norway, and Japan.
Education: Studied law at Göttingen, Berlin, and Tübingen Universities (1964–1969), with a doctorate (Dr.iur.) from Tübingen (1973) and habilitation (Dr.iur. habil.) in 1982. Held scholarships from DFG and the Studienstiftung.
Research interests include European business law integration, corporate governance, and transnational legal frameworks. His work bridges private law, comparative law, and EU regulatory systems.
Awards include the Mérite Européen en or (2015), honorary doctorates from Jagiellonian and Bergen Universities, and national honors from Brazil, Austria, and Germany. He led major DFG-funded research initiatives on system transformation and European economic integration.
Advising roles include coordinating the School for German Law at Jagiellonian University and participating in the Max-Planck Research School for International Law. He chairs the Arbeitskreis Europäische Integration (ECSA Germany) and is President of the Association of German Law Faculties since 2013.
