Marc Philippe Weller

Prof. Dr. Marc Philippe Weller serves as a Professor at Heidelberg University where he previously held the position of Vice Rector for International Affairs and Diversity (2019-2022). He is affiliated with the Faculty of Law and holds a chair at the Institute for Comparative and International Private and Commercial Law. His academic leadership extends to his presidency of the Franco-German Lawyers Association since 2016, and he maintains significant roles including membership on the DFG Review Board for Law and serving as Liaison Lecturer of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.

Weller's research expertise spans Civil law and European private law, Private international law, Commercial and corporate law, and European and International Corporate Law. His current research projects focus on Corporate Sustainability, Corporate Political Responsibility, Resilience of private law against excesses of power, and Methods of private international law. He has developed a specialized concentration on corporate climate responsibility, examining how legal frameworks can drive corporate sustainability and address climate change through innovative regulatory approaches.
