Professor Márta Korbonits is a Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Deputy Director of the William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University of London. She is also an Honorary Consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust. Her research focuses on pituitary tumor genetics, metabolic consequences of hormonal imbalances, and translational medicine. She leads the Pituitary and Neuroendocrine Group, exploring familial isolated pituitary adenomas and the role of AIP mutations. Key achievements include pioneering metformin’s use to mitigate glucocorticoid side effects and identifying genetic founder mutations linked to gigantism.
