Mykhaylo V. Ruchko

Dr. Mykhaylo V. Ruchko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. His research focuses on the dual roles of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in biological systems, investigating both their damaging effects and functional roles in intracellular signaling.

• Regulation of transcription through controlled DNA damage/repair
• Development of oxidative stress biomarkers

Recent publications analyze mitochondrial DNA damage in diabetes, heart failure therapy development, inflammatory response modulation in trauma, and hypoxia-related mitochondrial genome regulation. His work involves collaborations across pharmacology, cardiology, and critical care disciplines.
