Prof. Dr. Mustafa Beyazıt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art History at Pamukkale University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He has been serving at Pamukkale University since 1999 in various academic roles, progressing from Research Assistant to his current position as Associate Professor since 2015. He has also held academic positions at Ankara University and served as a Research Assistant Professor at Harvard University's Center for Middle Eastern Studies during 2010-2011.
His academic journey includes:
- Licence in Archaeology and Art History from Ataturk University (1994)
- Master's degree in Art History from Pamukkale University (2002)
- Doctorate in Art History from Ankara University (2009)
- Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Harvard University (2010-2011)
Prof. Beyazıt's research focuses on Anatolian cultural heritage with particular emphasis on Ottoman and Seljuk architecture, archaeological sites in the Denizli region, and historical monument conservation. His work extensively covers the Kale-i Tavas (Tabae Ancient City) archaeological site, Aizanoi ruins, and Seljuk caravanserais in Denizli. He has made significant contributions to understanding the connections between Central Asian and Anatolian architectural traditions, as well as the evolution of funerary architecture in the Republican era.
His scholarly achievements have been recognized through several awards:
- 2010 YÖK Foreign Research Scholarship
- Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Harvard University's Center for Middle Eastern Studies (2010-2011)
Prof. Beyazıt has supervised numerous graduate students, including five Master's theses completed between 2012-2018. He has successfully led multiple research projects funded by various institutions including Atatürk Culture, Language and History High Institution Turkish Historical Society, and Pamukkale University's Scientific Research Projects unit. His ongoing excavations at the Kale-i Tavas archaeological site and cemetery demonstrate his commitment to preserving and interpreting Anatolia's rich cultural heritage.
He has served in various administrative roles including Vice Chair of the Department of Art History (2011-2014), Head of the Department of Western and Contemporary Art (2011-2013), and as a member of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts (2016-2018) and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
