Fuat ŞANCI is an Associate Professor at Adiyaman University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Art History. He has been employed here since 2008, previously serving as a Research Assistant at Inonu University (1993-2007).
Education:
- Doctorate in Art History from Atatürk/Ankara University (2001-2006)
- Master's in Art History from Atatürk University (1993-1996)
- Bachelor's in Art History from Atatürk University (1983-1987)
Research Interests: ŞANCI specializes in Turkish Islamic Architecture and Arts, Byzantine Art, Art History, Philosophy of Art, and Sociology of Art. His work focuses on Anatolian Seljuk architecture, Ottoman art, and cultural heritage preservation in Adıyaman and Malatya provinces.
Recent Publications: His 15 most recent articles (2019-2024) explore diverse aspects of Seljuk architecture, mosque design, cultural heritage, and historical preservation. Topics include Akçadağ-Kadı İbrahim Mosque architecture (2021), Summer Mosques typology (2020), and Seljuk intellectual structure analysis (2023).
Projects: ŞANCI leads the Turkish Islamic Architecture in Adıyaman Province project and participates in the MİNYAMAN ADYUBAB infrastructure initiative. He has contributed to multiple archaeological excavations in Perre Ancient City's necropolis (2008-2009).
Academic Activities: He has authored 11 books including Turkish Islamic Architecture in Hatay Province (2019) and Malatya Turkish Islamic Period Architectural Works (2013). His editorial experience includes refereeing for academic journals and symposiums.
