Murray Richardson is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University. His interdisciplinary research spans Geomatics, Physical Hydrology, and Biogeosciences, focusing on northern ecozones, environmental geocomputation, and LiDAR/drone technologies.

His research involves natural and anthropogenic drivers of hydrology, water quality, and mercury cycling, with a focus on machine learning applications for geospatial datasets. He co-directs the Water and Ice Research Lab (WIRL) at Carleton and collaborates with government and community partners.
Recent projects include Arctic watershed studies (Polar Knowledge Canada), Ottawa River thermal regime modeling (MITACS Accelerate), and NSERC-funded work on mercury cycling in northern lakes. He teaches courses like Cold Region Hydrology and Environmental Systems Modeling.
