Her research focuses on film studies with emphasis on the representation of women in melodrama, films by female directors, and syncretic/intermedia interactions between cinema and contemporary art. She has developed particular expertise in analyzing the works of filmmakers like Michael Powell, exploring themes of visual aesthetics, cinematic techniques, and narrative structures. Her work demonstrates consistent attention to gender dynamics within cinematic contexts.
Dr. Andrin has co-edited several significant publications including "Practices of the Intimate. Filming, Sexuality" (2012), "Filmic Melodrama Revisited" (2014), and "M as in Mother, M as in Monster" (2015), establishing herself as a contributor to scholarly discourse on cinematic representation and gender studies.
Her academic leadership as President of the Master in Performing Arts program demonstrates her institutional role, while her ongoing publications reflect continued scholarly engagement with contemporary film theory and analysis.
