Aldridge's research interrogates the relationship between international film distribution and domestic production of Black media narratives. Her publications analyze cinematic portrayals of Black motherhood, documentary filmmaking as resistance, and systemic racism in film institutions. She has published on the brands of cinematic Blackness and the ethical implications of carceral state representations.
Recent creative works include critical analyses of Time (2020) by Garrett Bradley and 12 Years a Slave, focusing on temporal manipulation, family dynamics under incarceration, and abolitionist film theory. Her scholarship explores how Black filmic practices challenge dominant temporal frameworks and institutional control.
