Murgescu Bogdan

Bogdan Murgescu is a Professor of Economic History and Vice-Rector for Budget and Human Resources at the University of Bucharest. He has held significant administrative roles including Director of the Council for Doctoral Studies (2013-2020) and Advisor for Higher Education to the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research (2015-2016). Currently, he chairs the National Council for Higher Education Statistics and Forecast (CNSPIS) and participates in academic bodies like the European University Institute's Research Council.

• President of Romanian Society for Historical Sciences (2011-2019), now honorary president

His research spans economic history, historiography, and higher education policy. Notably, his book Romania and Europe: The Accumulation of Development Lags (1500–2010) compares Romania's economic trajectory with Denmark, Ireland, and Serbia. He has also pioneered annual reports on Romanian higher education financing (2012–2014) and coordinated 22 doctoral schools with 460 supervisors and 2,000 doctoral students at the University of Bucharest.
