Murat Aydın is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at Adiyaman University. He holds a PhD in Physics and has served in academic roles since 2003, including Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education (2009–2013), Director of Vocational Schools (2013–2015), and currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Education (2020–2024). His research focuses on atomic and molecular physics, particularly electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy of radiation-induced radicals in organic compounds. He has also contributed to science education research, examining student misconceptions and pedagogical strategies.
- Education: Dicle University (Physics Teaching, 1997), PhD in Physics (2006)
- Academic Titles: Res. Asst. (2003–2007), Assoc. Prof. (2007–2012), Professor (2017–present)
Research interests include EPR applications in radiation chemistry and improving physics education through structured learning approaches. He has published 38+ peer-reviewed articles in journals like Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids and Journal of Molecular Structure. His work has been recognized with five TÜBİTAK awards (2005–2014) for SCI-indexed publications.
Professional contributions include leadership roles in university governance and over 30 conference presentations on education and physics topics. Current projects focus on gamma radiation effects in organic compounds and student conceptual understanding in science.
