Muna Ndulo is the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of International and Comparative Law at Cornell Law School and serves as the Director of the Institute for African Development at Cornell. Previously, he was Professor of Law and Dean of the School of Law at the University of Zambia. He holds honorary professorships at the University of Cape Town, University of the Free State, and University of the Western Cape in South Africa.
His research focuses on constitution making, governance, international criminal law, African legal systems, human rights, and international law. He has authored 19 books, 29 book chapters, and over 100 academic articles. Notable recent work includes an analysis of the legal and financial disputes involving Vedanta and Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) in Zambia.
Professor Ndulo has extensive international experience, including roles as Legal Adviser to UN missions in East Timor, Kosovo, and Afghanistan, and as an arbitrator with the International Chamber of Commerce. He advises global institutions like the World Bank and African Development Bank on legal and governance issues.
He founded the Southern African Institute for Public Policy and Research (SAIPAR) and serves on boards of organizations such as the African Association of International Law and Human Rights Watch Africa. His work bridges academic scholarship with practical policy solutions in Africa and beyond.
