Muhammad Ali serves as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University, specializing in Computing and Information Science. He maintains dual academic affiliations, also working as a Researcher at the Centre for Security, Communications and Network Research (CSCAN) at University of Plymouth where he is completing his PhD in Cybersecurity.
His research focuses on the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, particularly in developing automated systems for malware detection and network protection. Key research areas include Malware detection and digital forensics, Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Assessment, IoT Security, and Blockchain applications in cybersecurity. He leads the Cyber Security and Networking Research Group and is a Fellow of the UCL Blockchain research group.
Dr. Ali's publication record demonstrates consistent output in malware detection systems, with recent work emphasizing machine learning approaches to security challenges. His research shows a clear trajectory from traditional network security toward AI-integrated cybersecurity solutions, particularly in malware analysis and detection.
Muhammad Ali has secured research funding as Co-Investigator in a project funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Education through Umm Al-Qura University Deanship of Scientific Research. He supervises research in areas including blockchain-based malware detection, advanced machine learning systems for malware detection, and deep learning approaches to cybersecurity.
He teaches across multiple cybersecurity modules including Network Security, Ethical Hacking, Web Application Security, and Digital Forensics, bringing his 12+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity to the classroom.
