Muhammad Usman

Dr. Muhammad Usman is a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security & Forensics at Edge Hill University, UK. He holds a PhD in Cyber Security from Griffith University, Australia, and completed a Postdoc in Cyber Security and Machine Learning at the University of Surrey. With 21 years of experience spanning academia, industry, and research, he has held roles such as Network Engineer, Assistant Professor, and Research Fellow across Australia, Asia, and Europe.

His research focuses on interdisciplinary areas including AI-driven systems, digital forensics, trust & privacy, and HealthTech/Agritech. He leads the 'Human-Centred Intelligent and Secure Systems' research group and has secured significant grants, including leadership roles in projects funded by the British Council and NAUSS Saudi Arabia. His work has been recognized with awards, including a best paper award at IEEE ComTech 2017.

Dr. Usman advises on policy and education, including roles with the UK Parliament’s COVID-19 Outbreak Expert Database and the Government of Pakistan. He is a Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Computing (Networks, Cyber Security and Forensics) and a Juniper-certified expert in networking and security. His contributions extend to editorial roles, conference organization, and leadership in IEEE committees.
