Mu Mu

Dr. Mu Mu is a Lecturer at the University of Northampton, actively leading research at the intersection of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and mental health therapy. He is involved in innovative projects developing VR-based treatments for anxiety disorders such as phobias and PTSD, collaborating with clinical partners like St Andrew’s Healthcare and industry partners including VR Therapies.

His research interests include virtual reality therapy, AI in healthcare, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and digital health innovation. Dr. Mu's work focuses on transforming psychotherapy into interactive VR experiences, such as the 'Swimming with AI Dolphins' project, which uses AI to create responsive therapeutic environments. He has secured Knowledge Exchange funding and leads clinical trials to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of these digital interventions.

Dr. Mu Mu has published in high-impact journals such as IEEE Communications Magazine and Mental Health and Digital Technologies. His recent publications explore VR EMDR therapy and persuasive navigation in the metaverse using automated avatars. He actively engages in public dissemination, presenting at events like Merged Futures.

Dr. Mu supervises and collaborates with students, such as games art student Finley Powell, integrating student work into real-world therapeutic applications. He leads projects involving grant-funded research, clinical trials, and industry partnerships. His lab work includes metaverse development, 3D body tracking, and AI-driven user modeling, conducted in collaboration with the University of Northampton’s Metaverse Lab.
