Dr Moty Katzman is a Senior Lecturer in Pure Mathematics at the University of Sheffield's School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. He is affiliated with the Pure Mathematics cluster and focuses on commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, and characteristic p methods through local cohomology modules and combinatorial approaches.
His research explores the complexity of local cohomology modules, Frobenius maps, and connections between algebraic and combinatorial properties of monomial ideals. He has also contributed to interdisciplinary work, including data-driven modeling in metal additive manufacturing.
Dr Katzman's publications span local cohomology, F-modules, tight closure theory, Frobenius operators, and computational algebra. He has received EPSRC funding for projects on local cohomology, tight closure, and prime characteristic methods.
At the University of Sheffield, Dr Katzman teaches MAS348 Game Theory and MAS439/MAS6320 Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry. His work combines theoretical algebra with practical applications, reflecting his expertise in modern commutative algebra techniques.
