معرفی
Morwenna Pearson-Long is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at IUT du Mans, Le Mans University, a position she has held since September 2009. She additionally serves as Head of International Relations at IUT du Mans since January 2022. Her academic career spans over 15 years at Le Mans University, where she contributes to both teaching and research activities.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Nantes (2003-2006), followed by two postdoctoral positions: first at the University of Reims (2006-2007) working on spirocyclopropyl-iminosugars, and then at the University of Bath (2008-2009) focusing on helical structures and organocatalysis.
- PhD: University of Nantes (2003-2006)
- Postdoc: University of Reims (2006-2007)
- Postdoc: University of Bath (2008-2009)
Dr. Pearson-Long's research focuses on titanium-mediated synthesis, particularly the development of asymmetric cyclopropanation reactions of nitriles using titanacyclopropane complexes, and exploring new reactivities of organometallics with nitriles for synthesizing biologically relevant molecules. Her work bridges organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and biological applications.
Analysis of her publication record spanning 2003-2024 reveals consistent contributions to organic synthesis methodology, particularly in titanium-mediated reactions, asymmetric catalysis, and novel approaches to complex molecule synthesis. Her recent work has expanded into polymer chemistry while maintaining her core focus on reaction development and mechanistic studies of organometallic transformations.
Her collaborative research approach is evident through her numerous co-authorships with researchers across multiple institutions, demonstrating strong connections within the international chemistry community.
Teaching responsibilities include organic chemistry and chemical engineering across all three years of BUT level programs at the IUT of Le Mans, as well as Master 2 level courses in the Faculty of Sciences.
She conducts her research within the Institute of Molecules and Materials of Le Mans (IMMM - UMR 6283), a multidisciplinary research unit focusing on organic synthesis, polymers, inorganic materials, and physics of confined systems.
