Morten Kyed is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Aalborg University's Department of Sociology and Social Work, within The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He leads the CASTOR research group and serves as Deputy Leader. His research focuses on workplace environments, gender dynamics, socio-emotional skills in professions like ambulance services, and military family dynamics. Notable projects include the VELUX-funded 'Anger' study (2020-2025) and a postdoc grant from the Danish Council for Independent Research.
Teaching roles include coordinating courses on sociological theory, qualitative methods, and modern work-life studies at both undergraduate and PhD levels. He has advised on curriculum development and served as a health and safety representative.
Research interests include masculinity studies, emotional labor in healthcare, and military family reintegration. Key publications address military homecoming practices, children's experiences in veteran families, and socio-emotional competencies in emergency services.
