Prof. Dr.-Ing. Moritz Gretzschel has been Professor at Hochschule Aalen since October 2012. He chairs the examination boards for multiple study programmes within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, heads the Institute for Drive Technology Aalen (IAA), and is a member of the Competence Center for Innovative Business Models.

Research Focus: Professor Gretzschel’s work centres on electromobility, drive technology, and product development & simulation. His industrial background at BMW AG and BMW Hybrid Technology Corp. in Germany and the USA provides practical depth to his academic research on hybrid powertrains, active torque distribution, and innovative business models for sustainable mobility.
Labs & Teams: As head of the Institute for Drive Technology Aalen (IAA), he leads a multidisciplinary team advancing research and development in electric and hybrid drive systems, collaborating closely with regional industry partners.
