Morgan Despres

Morgan Despres serves as a Guest Lecturer at the Hertie School in Berlin, teaching the course Green Finance in Europe & the World. While his primary professional role is as Executive Director for international climate finance and nature at the European Climate Foundation (ECF), he brings substantial expertise from his 18-year career in the French official sector focused on financial stability and international financial regulation.

His research interests center on the intersection of climate change and financial systems, particularly how central banks and financial institutions can address environmental challenges. Despres has been instrumental in developing frameworks for integrating climate considerations into financial regulation and stability monitoring.

As the founding Head of the Secretariat of the Central Banks and Supervisors Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), he co-authored the influential publication The Green Swan: Central Banking and Financial Stability in the Age of Climate Change. He also serves as a Trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation, demonstrating his leadership in establishing global financial reporting standards related to sustainability.
