Professor Morag Young is a leading cardiovascular endocrinologist at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, where she heads the Cardiovascular Endocrinology laboratory. She serves as supervisor at multiple Australian institutions including Monash University, La Trobe University, Deakin University, and University of Melbourne.
Her research focuses on mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) pathophysiology in cardiovascular disease, examining:
- MR interactions with the circadian clock
- Cell-selective signaling in macrophages, cardiomyocytes, and endothelial cells
- Mechanisms of cardiac fibrosis and inflammation
- Translational applications in heart failure and endocrine hypertension
Recent work includes publications on:
- Nature Communications study connecting poor sleep/shift work with cardiovascular risk
- MR signaling in primary aldosteronism
