Monson Hayes is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at George Mason University (GMU), where he serves as Chair. He holds a Sc.D. from MIT and served as Professor Emeritus at Georgia Tech after 30 years. His research spans digital signal processing, image/video processing, and machine learning. He has authored two textbooks and over 200 publications. Hayes is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and has received awards such as the Presidential Young Investigator Award. He pioneered online education methods, including early asynchronous course delivery across international locations. Currently, he co-chairs ICASSP-2024 and focuses on integrating robotics and computing education.
