Dr. Monir Takla is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, specializing in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. He holds a Dr.-Ing. from a West German university (1983-1987) and a fee-exempt M.Eng from Cairo University. His research focuses on structural mechanics, crashworthiness, and material behavior under extreme conditions. He has secured significant industry grants, including from Ajax Fasteners (1996-1999) and VPAC (2001-2002).
His academic career spans over three decades, including roles at Helwan University (Egypt) and RMIT. He has supervised 7 PhD and 5 Master's students since 2004. Key collaborations include GM-Holden, Ford Motor Company, and PBR International. His work emphasizes numerical simulation, safety design for vehicles, and nonlinear mechanical analysis.
Recent research highlights include studies on composite materials' crush performance, bifurcation analysis in thick-walled cylinders, and thermal comfort in sports helmets. His contributions bridge theoretical mechanics with industrial applications, particularly in automotive and safety engineering.
