Monique Tabak is a full professor at the University of Twente within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS), Department of Electrical Engineering, and Biomedical Signals and Systems (BSS) research group. Holding a cum laude degree in Biomedical Engineering, she leads the research track on personalized eHealth technology for complex chronic conditions, focusing on how digital solutions enable tailor-made care in daily life.
Her research spans:
- eHealth system design for chronic conditions like COPD and osteoarthritis
- Real-world data monitoring integrated with AI-driven personalized feedback
- Multi-modal sensing approaches and recommender systems for healthcare
- Interdisciplinary applications bridging biomedical engineering, computer science, and clinical practice
Prof. Tabak directs over 20 international projects including the European RE-SAMPLE initiative (AI-based COPD care) and NWA-ORC's LoAD project (osteoarthritis coaching systems), serving as principal investigator and work package leader. She teaches eHealth technology across Biomedical Engineering, Technical Medicine, and Health Science programs while maintaining affiliations with the TechMed Centre and Digital Society Institute.
