معرفی
Monique E De Paepe is a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University's School of Medicine. She holds concurrent appointments as a Staff Pathologist at Women and Infants' Hospital and a Consulting Pathologist at Rhode Island Hospital, both in Providence, RI.
Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms regulating alveolar remodeling in lung development, with specific emphasis on apoptosis and angiogenesis in normal and pathological contexts. She has pioneered studies on bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) using transgenic mouse models to investigate therapeutic strategies for this chronic lung disease affecting preterm infants.
Honors and Awards:
- First Prize, Annual Scientific Seminar of the Alumni Association (1987)
- N.A.T.O. Research Fellowship Award (1989-1991)
- McGill University-Montreal Children's Hospital Research Fellowship (1990-1991)
- Poster Prize in Experimental Pathology (1994)
- Lotte Strauss Prize, Society for Pediatric Pathology (1995)
- Junior Investigator Award (2000)
- Dean's Teaching Excellence Award (2004)
Research Impact: Her work has been funded by multiple institutions including the American Lung Association, Rhode Island Foundation, and NIH. Key funded projects include investigations into tracheal ligation models, KGF/KGFR axis roles in lung development, and Fas/FasL system's impact on lung apoptosis.
