Monika Schmid is a current Professor of Linguistics and Head of Department at the University of York, previously holding professorial roles at the University of Essex (2013-2021) and the University of Groningen (2010-2015). Her research focuses on Language Attrition, Bilingualism, and Neurolinguistics, with recent work examining cognitive impacts of bilingualism and age-related factors in language stability.
