Monika L. Perez is an Adjunct Professor of Nursing at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), where she teaches in the RN to BSN program. With 15 years of nursing experience, she transitioned from a clinical role in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) to nursing education. Holding an MSN from Jacksonville University (2016) and a BSN from TAMIU (2005), she has held roles including charge nurse, neonatal PICC nurse, and nurse preceptor before becoming a clinical assistant professor at TAMIU in 2018. Currently, she serves as supervisor for clinical education at a local hospital and teaches courses such as NURN 3320: The History of Nursing and NURN 3313/3314: Transition to Professional Nursing.
Her educational philosophy emphasizes empowering students to advance their careers through continuous learning. She focuses on critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills, assigning projects like peer discussions, literature reviews, and clinical simulations.
