Monika Bokiniec

Dr. Monika Bokiniec is a Lecturer at the University of Gdańsk's Faculty of Social Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Culture. She holds a PhD in Philosophy (aesthetics) from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (2007) and dual master's degrees in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Gdańsk (2001–2002).

Her research explores the intersections of aesthetics, philosophy of art, feminism, humor theory, and audiovisual/popular culture. Key themes include ethical dimensions of comedy, gender representation in media, and digital transformations in art.

Bokiniec received the City of Gdańsk Jan Uphagen Award for Young Scientists (2006) and second prize in the Stefan Morawski competition for her doctoral thesis on aesthetics (2007). She serves as associate editor for Estetika: The Central European Journal of Aesthetics and edits the Polish journal Panoptikum.

She supervised the student Philosophical and Artistic Scientific Circle (2003–2010) and maintains memberships in the Polish Aesthetic Society, International Society for Aesthetics, and European Society of Aesthetics.
