Monica Taylor is a Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations at Montclair State University's College for Education and Engaged Learning. She directs the Teacher Education and Teacher Development Ph.D. program and the Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies program, focusing on feminist and queer pedagogy, self-study methodologies, and social justice in education.

Research Interests
Taylor's work centers on feminist and queer pedagogy, self-study methodologies, and LGBTQ+ inclusive practices. She explores teacher leadership for social justice through co/autoethnography, Theater of the Oppressed, and embodied pedagogy, with emphasis on gender and sexuality in teacher education. Her research integrates personal narrative with academic inquiry to challenge heteronormative and patriarchal structures in educational systems.
Grants and Editorial Work
She co-edits The Educational Forum and serves as co-principal investigator for the WIPRO Science Education Fellows grant, supporting teacher leaders across eight New Jersey school districts. As director of the Ph.D. program in Teacher Education and Teacher Development, she mentors doctoral candidates in educational research and practice.
Advocacy
Taylor serves on the board of Planned Parenthood of Metro New Jersey and volunteers for asylum seekers and voter protection, embodying her lifelong commitment to fighting sexism, heteronormativity, and racism through both academic and community engagement.
