Monica Hammer is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Natural Resources Management at Södertörn University's School of Natural Science, Technology and Environmental Studies. Her work bridges social and natural science perspectives on ecosystem management.
Research Focus: Specializes in interdisciplinary research on environment and sustainability, including peri-urban landscape transformation, ecosystem services, and water governance in the Baltic Sea Region. Current projects include:
- Transforming cultural landscapes in peri-urban areas (Formas-funded, project leader)
- Södertornsmodellen platform for sustainable suburban dynamics (Vinnova-funded)
- Baltic Sea Foundation projects on tick-borne disease epidemiology and regional poetics
Collaborations: Works with institutions like KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University, and Enveco. Projects include ECOPOOL and RISKGOV initiatives.
