Madeleine Bonow is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of School at Södertörn University's School of Natural Sciences, Technology and Environmental Studies. Her research focuses on sustainability, urban agriculture, and historical aquaculture practices. She leads projects exploring digital design's role in activism, peri-urban landscape transformation through horse-keeping, and the potential of crucian carp in modern aquaculture. Her work combines interdisciplinary approaches, analyzing socio-environmental dynamics in urban and rural contexts. Bonow investigates topics like community gardens as social innovations, traditional food practices' decline, and peri-urban ecosystem services. She has contributed to over 50 publications since 2002, emphasizing historical and contemporary sustainability challenges.
