Monica Ercolani is an Instructional Associate Professor in the Department of Modern & Classical Languages at the University of Houston, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. She specializes in Italian language, literature, and culture, and serves as the liaison to the Italian Cultural & Community Center (ICCC) in Houston.
Education:
- Master of Arts in Italian Literature and Language, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), 1994
- Laurea in History and Grammar of the Italian Language, University of Florence, Italy, 1989
Research & Professional Engagement: Focuses on foreign language pedagogy and cultural immersion. Active in professional development workshops, including the Focus Group for Percorsi (textbook series) and conferences like ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) in Orlando, San Antonio, Nashville, and Baltimore. Also participated in the AATI-AAIS Joint Convention in Genoa, Italy.
Affiliations: Member of the American Association for Italian Studies (AAIS), American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI), Gamma Kappa Alpha (Italian Honor Society), and the Federation of Italian-American of Greater Houston.
