Monica Claes is a Professor of European and Comparative Constitutional Law at Maastricht University's Faculty of Law. She co-directs the Maastricht Centre for European Law and serves as co-editor-in-chief of the European Constitutional Law Review (EuConst). Her research focuses on EU constitutional law, constitutional identity, comparative constitutional frameworks, European fundamental rights, and constitutional review dynamics. Claes holds a PhD from Maastricht University and studied law at KU Leuven and the College of Europe.
