Monica Chiu is a Professor of English at the University of New Hampshire's College of Liberal Arts, specializing in Asian American studies with a focus on graphic narratives and manga. She holds a Ph.D. from Emory University and has taught at The University of Hong Kong as a Fulbright Scholar (2011-12). Her research explores intersections of race, visual culture, and transnational literature, with notable works including Filthy Fictions (2004) and Scrutinized! (2014). Chiu has received awards for diversity advocacy, including the 2008 President's Excellence Through Diversity Faculty Award. She chairs an NSF-funded committee on STEM faculty recruitment and directed UNH's University Honors Program (2008-2011). Her publications appear in journals like Mosaic and LIT, and she actively contributes to pedagogical initiatives on diversity and inclusion.
