Dr. Monica Barratt is a Visiting Fellow and social scientist at the Drug Policy Modelling Program within Australia's National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at the University of New South Wales. Her NHMRC-funded research examines the intersection of digital technologies and drug use, including online drug markets, emerging psychoactive substances, and digital harm reduction strategies.
Barratt's 15-year research portfolio investigates how digital platforms transform drug access, knowledge dissemination, and community formation among people who use drugs. Her work informs evidence-based responses to evolving drug trends in technology-mediated environments.
As an NHMRC Early Career Fellow, Barratt contributes to policy development through empirical studies of digital drug phenomena. Her scholarship addresses critical gaps in understanding how online environments shape drug-related behaviors and public health outcomes.
