Mona Holm is a Research Fellow and PhD candidate in History at the University of Oslo (UiO), affiliated with Anno Museum AS. She holds an MA in Art History (UiO, 1995) and has extensive experience in museum work, including roles as curator and academic director at the Women's Museum Norway. Her current PhD project, Dreams about «Nylænde». Transatlantic connections among women’s rights activists and suffragists in Norway and the USA 1880-1925, investigates transnational networks between Norwegian and American women’s movements during mass emigration eras. The project is funded by the Norwegian Research Council and collaborates with Anno Museum and the University of Oslo.
Her research focuses on women’s suffrage movements, migration history, and museology. Key academic interests include gender representation in museums, transatlantic feminist networks, and cultural heritage preservation. She supervises her PhD under Prof. Eirinn Larsen (UiO) and co-supervisor Terje Mikael Hasle Joranger (Norwegian Emigrant Museum).
Publications include analyses of gender representation in Norwegian museums (2020) and exhibition practices at Anno Museum (2018). She is Vice Chairwoman of the International Association of Women's Museums. Her work bridges historical research with museum praxis, emphasizing transnational feminist historiography and public engagement.
