Momotazur Rahman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services, Policy and Practice at Brown University. His research focuses on the economics of aging, healthcare utilization patterns, disparities in quality of care, and Medicare/Medicaid policy. He has over 110 publications in top journals like the Journal of Health Economics and Health Affairs, and leads five R01-equivalent NIH-funded projects. He earned his PhD in 2010 from Brown University.
Key research areas include Alzheimer's disease, long-term care economics, and healthcare disparities. He collaborates with prominent researchers such as Vincent Mor and Amal Trivedi, focusing on topics like nursing home quality, Medicare Advantage plan performance, and post-acute care utilization.
Rahman's work has been recognized with multiple Academy Health Outstanding Abstract awards (2013-2018) and a citation for the most impactful 2015 study in Health Affairs. He teaches graduate courses in health services research methods and advises doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in the Health Services Research program.
He actively investigates policy impacts on healthcare access, including the effects of Medicare Advantage on beneficiary outcomes and disparities in dementia care. His recent studies address rural-urban differences in Alzheimer's diagnosis rates and the role of social risk factors in kidney care access.
