Molly McClelland is a Professor at the McAuley School of Nursing within the University of Detroit Mercy's College of Health Professions & MSON. She holds a Ph.D. from Wayne State University, an MSN from Wayne State, and a BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University. Certified as an Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACNS-BC) and Medical Surgical Nurse (CMSRN), her expertise spans Advanced Practice Nursing, multidisciplinary collaboration, and chronic disease management. She previously coordinated a gastrointestinal cancer clinic and served as editor of MedSurg Matters! from 2013–2018. Currently, she oversees clinical placements for online Clinical Nurse Specialist students nationwide.
Her research focuses on health promotion, vaping's physiological impacts, chronic disease management, and engineering-nursing collaborations for assistive technology. Notable projects include studies on vaping's effects on vital signs and interdisciplinary capstone design projects.
Molly has taught nursing at undergraduate and graduate levels for 11 years and advocates for policy changes to support family caregivers. She collaborates with engineering programs to address healthcare innovation needs, emphasizing social impact and technology accessibility.
