Dr. Mollie Carter is an Associate Professor of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Union University. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Research from the University of Memphis, an M.A. in Christian Mental Health Counseling from Oral Roberts University, and a B.S. in Psychology from Union University. Her research focuses on social psychology interventions, particularly examining the intersection of mental health, social behaviors, and digital media usage patterns among college students.
Her research explores topics including Christian-based self-compassion interventions, social psychology of masking behaviors in conservative regions, and the impact of social media on identity development. Current projects investigate how digital mediation affects emerging adult outcomes and the role of spiritual support in college self-efficacy.
Dr. Carter's publications consistently examine psychological adaptations during life transitions, with recent work focusing on identity clarity in digital environments and developmental challenges during college. Her research employs mixed-method approaches to understand behavioral patterns in evolving social contexts.
As faculty-in-residence, she actively engages with students beyond the classroom, hosting events like SAC's Be Our Guest dinners to foster community.
